Asparagus and wine festival in Ivančice
Once upon a time, asparagus from Ivančice was more famous than Pilsner beer and was exported to the imperial court in Vienna because Empress Sissi loved it. (She couldn't get enough of it.) Today, its fame is commemorated by the newly built municipal asparagus factory and the popular Asparagus and wine festival taking place in May.
GASTRONOMIC FESTIVAL PAR EXCELLENCE
You can taste at least 35 asparagus specialties at the square! Every year, local and befriended restaurants prepare a refined menu, and you can get acquianted with this exquisite delicacy in a truly enjoyable way. Asparagus festivals have been held since 1994 and in recent years, and around 4 tons of fresh asparagus have been eaten each time!
And don't forget, the asparagus delicacies are paired with wine. Dozens of samples from Moravian wine masters await you in the courtyard of the town hall. In addition to the accompanying programme, such as a cookery show or a craft fair on the main square, the organisers are also thinking of children. They will certainly not get bored - a bouncy castle, fairy-tale shows and various crafting await them. And as a souvenir, you will probably take away a "bouquet" of fresh asparagus for your own home cooking.
