Blaufränkisch from Dolní Kounice

The famous red that grabs the heart

The wine town is particularly famous for its Blaufränkisch. In Dolní Kounice and the surrounding area, there is even a festival organized by the Brotherhood of Winemakers and Diggers. The journey of Blaufränkisch from Dolní Kounice will take you through Dolní Kounice, Moravské and Nové Bránice and Trboušany. Local winemakers open their wine cellars and pour wine. Each of them has prepared their own Blaufränkisch (but of course also other wine varieties typical for the area). There are usually around 20 stations! During the wine tasting you can get to know the beautiful Dolní Kounice, the villages and the Jihlava river valley. The main mission of the event is not only to taste excellent local wines, but also to establish friendly relations between winemakers and visitors and to strengthen them again every year.

The town of Dolní Kounice organizes the St. Gotthard Festival in honour of the patron saint of local winemakers in spring, and the Rosa Coeli Historical Festival in autumn. Kounice wines can be tasted, for example, in the cellar U Dvořáků. (Do you have children with you? There is a also pastry shop that should entertain them.) You can also buy wine in the shop Schůzka 7.13. or in the renowned Jan Plaček winery in Moravské Bránice.
