Technical monument from the 19th century

The mine was one of the oldest in the area, mining began in the middle of the 19th century. The tower is a technical monument and is not usually accessible. It opens for International Miners' Day at the September Mining Festival and twice a year, once in July, once in August (dates at www.mikroregionkahan.cz) in conjunction with a narrow-gauge railway ride, so check their website before your trip.

 

You can see the beautiful Art Nouveau tower of the Simson mine in Zbýšov from afar. The mine was one of the oldest in the area. Mining began in the middle of the 19th century. There is a small museum inside, which is being continually improved by volunteers from former miners in Zbýšov.
