Mining tools, equipment and a coal tunnel

Oslavany used to be a wine-growing village. Then coal was discovered here and everything changed. The local castle therefore has an exhibition of mining and energy in its repertoire, including a life-size model of a mine. The exhibition is thematically divided into several parts. In addition to geology, mineralogy, etc., one part is the development of the mining craft. You will learn about historical and modern mining methods, the work and life of miners. You will see the equipment of the mining rescue service. 

And what will make your visit to the museum more enjoyable? Swimming in the castle biotope! You will find the bathing biotope right in the castle park. You can also play tennis, learn something new in the geopark, and for the kids there is a children's water world with a paddling pool, fountain and more. For athletes, fitness trainers and physiotherapists have prepared an outdoor fitness zone with 5 exercise stations. 

Are you interested in mining in Moravia in more depth? You will find a memorial commemorating Oslavany as the first place in Moravia where coal mining began in the 18th century right next to the town office. The Oslavany cemetery has the common graves of miners who died in two major mining disasters, as well as the tomb of the Müller mining family with memorial plaques. At náměstí 13. prosince square in Oslavany, you will see Permon (the gnome), the guardian of Oslavany.
