Narrow-gauge railway
A great ride not only for fans
For many years, carriages full to the brim with coal were running along these narrow tracks to the station in Zastávka. And when mining ended, enthusiasts and volunteers from the Museum of Industrial Railways - MPŽ restored the track. The museum owns lots of technical pieces - from locomotives to carriages. And it runs every weekend!
Twice a year there is a big celebration - An extraordinary experience that can only be experienced once in July, once in August each year - dates at www.mikroregionkahan.cz. At Zastávka you will board a steam engine train that will take you right to the Museum of Industrial Railways. It's all mining themed. In addition to the cars and locomotives used in the mines, you'll see a collection of stones retrieved from the local underground. And men ready for a shift, just to get down. From there, you'll head to the Simson mining tower, which is open exclusively for these days. You will be guided with great enthusiasm by members of the Zbýšov National History Society. Afterwards, head to the historic brickyard, which used to supply building materials to the local mining colonies. Climb up to the Zbýšov heap and then take the train from MPŽ back to Zastávka!
