Rosice Castle
Castle with a nuclear shelter
The dominant feature of Rosice is the white castle next to the square. This Renaissance pearl experienced its greatest glory in the 17th century when Charles the Elder of Žerotín lived here, leading all of Moravia from this place and influencing European history.
Look at the Renaissance arcades with the remains of chic sgraffito plaster. (The sgraffito on castles and palaces usually resembles postal envelopes. The Rosicrucian sgraffito is more refined.) And those unique ceilings - experts from all over the world flock to see them. In addition to the classic castle tour, there is also a permanent toy exhibition. And there is also a newly renovated cloakroom and torture chamber, and refreshments. As a bonus, there's a beautiful garden and a rare 1950s nuclear shelter underneath. You'll see it as part of the tour, of course. In season, the castle occasionally hosts jousting and similar attractions.
