Apricot harvest festival in Židlochovice
The efforts of a local apricot breeder have produced the renowned 'Fenz's Fertile Židlochovice' variety. It can be found in the freely accessible orchard near the community centre. And especially in Židlochovice, they celebrate the delicious orange fruit with a themed festival!
GASTRONOMIC FEAST IN ORANGE
You can enjoy a culinary programme in the new community centre with a fair on the adjacent square náměstí Míru, creative apricot menus from local restaurants, and a creazy dumpling eating contest (apricot-flavoured, of course) - Children will have their own version of the apricot eating contest, too. And, as usual, you'll taste the competition samples of fragrant apricot brandy.
In addition to juicy cakes and specialties such as apricot sparkling wine and apricot wine, the menu will be complemented by a cultural programme - There will be no shortage of gastro stars and music on stage. And where do all those freshly picked apricots come from? No imports, you're in apricot country, which means the fruit comes from the hill above Židlochovice called Výhon, where there's an elegant acacia lookout tower that literally begs to be climbed...
