Once Upon a Time in Slavkov

Once Upon a Time in Slavkov

Slavkov u Brna will go back 218 years on the first weekend in December. It will commemorate one of the most important European battles, in which French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte defeated the combined Austrian-Russian army (with the support from England) on 2 December, 1805. Nearly 160,000 soldiers fought in this battle.

This year, visitors can experience historical events first-hand, for example as the monarchs spending the night in the castle. On Saturday, in addition to the period programme, visitors can also enjoy an advent fair in the town centre.

A unique spectacle is the parade of soldiers through the town, a multimedia programme in the castle park ending with fireworks.
