WELCOME SATURDAY 13 AUGUST WITH A BREAKFAST AT ZBÝŠOV HEAP
The August date for the event With Steam to the Miners is slowly approaching. We start it unusually - with breakfast with beautiful views on Zbýšov heap. Delicious treats from local skilled producers will be ready for tasting. The entrance fee will be voluntary, thanks to the support of the South Moravian Region and the local enterprising group Brána Brněnska. However, we'll be happy if you bring a sample of your favourite breakfast dish and maybe share a recipe. Thank you in advance. Don't forget your picnic blanket.
Meet us at 7:30 am at the foot of the heap, in the large parking lot at the end of Havířská street. We'll then go together on a guided climb up the artificial hill that has been growing above Zbýšov for more than a hundred years. At about two-thirds of the way up there will be a breakfast menu, but we'll climb even higher, to the very top. From there you'll be able to see Pálava, the Alps, and Oslavany and Ivančice region.
The breakfast itself will be prepared between 8 and 10 am, and then we will go to the destinations of the event With Steam to the Miners - To the Simson mining tower in Zbýšov, to the hikes to the Babice heap and to the steam trains of the Museum of Industrial Railways between Zastávka, Babice, Zbýšov and back (and vice versa).
The aim of the breakfast is to bring participants to a place they might not otherwise have seen. Few people outside the region know that coal was mined in the area, and yet only 30 years have passed since the end of the local mining history this year.
