Napoleonic events at Slavkov u Brna are cancelled
Slavkov u Brna cancels events related to the commemoration of the 216th anniversary of the Battle of Austerlitz. Neither the government regulation nor the worsening situation in hospitals allows the programme to take place. The programme was due to take place on Friday and Saturday 3 - 4 December.
Due to newly announced government measures concerning Covid, the events on the 216th anniversary of the Battle of Austerlitz were cancelled. The entire programme in Slavkov u Brna and the reenactment of the Battle of Santon Hill in Tvarožná were cancelled.
With a bit of exaggeration it can be said that this year Napoleon only managed to come to Brno. Neither Emperor Francis nor Tsar Alexander of Russia will make it to the castle in Slavkov and the battlefield at Tvarožná will not see any battle. The anniversary of the 1805 Battle of Austerlitz will be for the second time commemorated only marginally.
There will be only a few intimate commemorations without public participation.
We have no choice but to thank all those who participated in the preparations for this year's commemorative event. Let's hope that next year it will come to fruition.
